Introduction to the HPA-nxV201PS The nxV201PS is the latest design from Holton Precision Audio. Based on the very popular nxV200, the nxv201PS is designed to meet the needs of people who want an easier solution to building their own high quailty audio amplifier. With most audio module installations, wiring the power supply components can often be a very time consuming task and it is very easy to make mistakes, resulting in either damaging the amplifier or other components. The nxV201PS takes all that pain away by providing a high quality low noise power supply built into the main amplifier PCB. It features dual ultra high speed soft recovery bridge rectifiers and 10,000uf 63v main filter capacitors for each supply rail. This provides a low ground noise high speed supply right where the amplifier needs it. As close as possible to the main output stage, eliminating long power cable runs and helping to reduce noise even further. The PCB layout has also been optimised further along with improvements in circuit design and the incorporation of a folded cascode input stage and the development of a two stage lead and lag frequency compensation network, resulting in very low distortion power bandwidth at 660khz -3dB. The net result is an amplifier that has wonderful 3D sound stage and sharp focal imaging, with smooth natural vocals and highs with rock solid bass response that rivials the very best amplifiers in the world. This amp module needs to be heard to be believed, it is that good!!! To get the nxV201PS amp module up and running, all that is required is a 225VA transformer with 2 x 35vac secondary windings and a suitable heat sink such as the Conrad MF15-100 for each channel. For two or more channels, they can share a large common power transformer if so desired. The 225VA power transfomers to suit the nxV201PS are available from Holton Precision Audio or they can be purchased from Harbuch Electronics. A link for Harbuch Electronics can be found in the Links page of this web site. The amplifier module is also supplied with Audiophile grade Nichicon KZ MUSE supply de-couplers and Nichicon MUSE ES BP capacitors for the feedback circuit as standard. The nxV201PS measures only 125mm(4.9") x 50mm(2") x 40mm(1.5") and when mounted on a low profile heat sink allows the possiblity of making a very compact mono block or dual mono(Stereo) power amplifier. The nxV201PS is also suitable for multi channel home theatre installations or even active loudspeakers. The HPA-nxV201ps amplifier module comes with a full mounting kit which includes 4 x 10mm metal PCB stand offs, 3 x Silicon insulation washers and 7 x M3 bolts to mount the module and output stage on to the heat sink. |
