Introduction to the Dual Channel HPA-nxV202ps

The HPA-nxV202PS is the smaller brother to the HPA-nx203ps amplifier module and the next step in the nxV20Xps series of amplifiers.  Based on the very popular HPA-nxV200, the HPA-nxv202ps is designed to meet the needs of people who want to have an easier solution to building their own multi channel high end audio amplifier or an even simplier solution to building a two channel amplifier, for applications based around active or DSP based loudspeakers or multi channel home theatre amplifiers or as mentioned a high end stereo amplifier.

The HPA-nxV202ps amplifier employs an improved input stage using Folded Cascode fully complementary differential input stage as well as two nested feedback loops. This improves the imaging and overall presents too an even higher level than before compared to the standard HPA-nxV200 module.

What we have done with the HPA-nxV202ps is to combine Two upgraded nxV200 amplifier modules and a high performance low noise linear power supply. In a very compact form factor measuring only 220mm x 73 x 45mm.

The power supply section of the nxV202ps has two high current Shottky diode full wave rectifiers and comes standard with four 10,000uf 63 volt high quality filter capacitors on board, making a total filter bank of 40,000uf on board.

Protection is provided by SMD fuses in each supply rail and overload and short circuit protection is provided by Gate protection circuitry.

One of the more notable features of the nxV202ps module is the ability of the module to bridge channel one and channel two with no more than a single jumper. This makes channel One and channel Two into a single high power 310 watt amplifier

To get the HPA-nxV202PS amplifier module up and running, all that is required is a 400VA transformer with 2 x 35vac secondary windings and a suitable heat sink such as the Conrad MF30-75 for each three channel module.

The amplifier module is also supplied with audiophile grade Nichicon KW MUSE supply de-couplers and Nichicon MUSE ES BP capacitors for the feedback circuit as standard.

The HPA-nxV202ps amplifier module comes with a full mounting kit which includes 4 x 10mm metal PCB stand offs, 6 x Silicon insulation washers and 10 x M3 bolts to mount the module and output stage on to the heat sink.
